Spring Fashion for the Office

I don't know about you, but I am sick and tired of my 'winter' wardrobe. I am craving all things bright, colorful, and spring! It is time to swap out the thick, chunky items in dark and wintry colors. Give me all the florals, pastels and neons! I work a desk job that requires me to dress business casual, but that does not mean that my work wardrobe doesn't have seasons throughout the year just like my regular wardrobe. I love to swap out items, and cannot tell you how excited I am for the weather to be warm enough for me to start wearing pencil skirts again. Let me tell you, nothing makes you feel more polished and put together than a pencil skirt ;-) I rounded up some of my favorite fashions for the office that are available this spring, and am dying to share!

White Skirts
My mission this season is to find a cute white pencil skirt. I wear my black and navy skirts on rotation with my favorite tunic tucked in, and love them! I think white brings such a different look to this classic business style. Paired with a pretty blue or yellow top, and you look ready for spring and that fun board meeting that's on your calendar.

Blush Tops
I cannot stop loving all of the blush things. I really love wearing a blouse to work recently, it is just so much more classy and delicate than other options. The cold has forced me into a lot of thick sweaters the past few months, so I can't wait to start busting out my airy and pretty tops this spring!

Maxi Dresses
I love, love, LOVE the fact that warmer weather makes it allowable to wear maxi dresses to work. I won't necessarily pull out this look on a day where I have an important meeting, but maxi dresses can be dressed up or down. Throw on a cute blazer or cardigan and it is totally office appropriate. And, at the end of the day when it warms up outside, you can ditch the jacket and be ready to run errands or hang out outside!

White Pants
Similar to my love of white skirts, I am also obsessed with white pants! They just feel so fresh, and immediately brighten not only your look, but your mood too! I have been wearing mine already with booties this winter, but think they will look great with some nude flats in a month or so, as well!

Fun Blazers
Who said all blazers need to be neutral and safe? I love throwing on a floral blazer for a fun pop that is still professional. A bright colored blazer is a fun option too. And continuing on the blush train, this option with the cute cuffs on the bottom is my absolute favorite!

Fun bottoms
Similar to the blazers, a pop of color in your pants is such a fun and unique way to liven up an outfit! I love to thrown on a pair of blush bottoms (again with the blush!) or even a bright red, and then pair with a neutral top. It is a great way to get noticed and stand out for the world of black and navy, while still keeping it classy.

What are some of your favorite items to wear to the office? How do you keep your work wardrobe from getting stale and boring?

Sweater Weather

It has been a lot of snow and cold around here lately. While it is pretty, the Minnesota weather does not lend itself to much wardrobe variety. Fortunately, warm and cozy sweaters are always in style, and this year, there are so many fun details out there to spice up our every day winter wardrobe!
This v-neck sweater is such a classic piece, and so cozy! A cream knit piece is perfect and so pretty. The ruffle sleeve detailing on this sweater is absolutely gorgeous, and a fun feminine detail. I am crazy about this zip front piece. Cozy and also edgy! This lace up sweater is on trend with its detailing, and great for a night out to dinner. And on the topic of the lace up trend, I have this miracle sweater and am obsessed! It is so pretty and cozy, I have been talking myself out of wearing more than I should ;-) A little more dainty and light, a pontelle is so pretty and feels like spring, which is so refreshing on those dreary winter days! You can't go wrong with a cozy cardigan like this one by BP. To brighten up your winter wardrobe, this blue Color block is fun and unique. A classic cable knit is a must during the frigid winters, perfect for cozyingbup by the fire with a warm beverage after a day spent in the snow. An off the shoulder top is so perfect for adding style, and a little va-va-voom to your look even when the temps are below zero. I am a total sucker for ombre, and love the gradual gray tones on this sweater.  And finally, for the ultimate cozy this mauve sweatshirt scores for color, style, and high rating on the cozy scale!

What are your favorite sweater styles? We are still a LONG way from spring, so I will totally continue adding to my collection to stay warm through the frozen tundra ;-)

Fall Fashion Must Haves

Fall means all of the cozy things. And pumpkin spice everything, obviously. #basic Really though, every year when fall rolls around I cannot wait to roll out all of the long sleeves, boots, and scarves. I am so in love with all of the colors and styles that are out right now!

Before getting to anything else, go out and buy yourself some cozy hose tights right now. They are so thick (as in not one bit see-through), warm, and long! Nothing drives me more crazy than when tights seem too short, or when they cut awkwardly into your waist. Maybe it is from my dance team days, but I like to hike up my tights as high as they can go, basically up to where my bra ends. Awkward? Probably, but SO much more comfortable than having them cut you off at the waist. The Cozy Hose are seriously so amazing, buy multiples because you will wear them round the clock throughout the colder months.
I have blogged about the Lush tunics time and time again. But you guys, they have some awesome fall colors out right now! I am loving the burnt orange option, it would be so pretty with leggings at Thanksgiving dinner (because hello gaining five pounds at one meal), or tucked into a skirt for work. They are seriously the most versatile tops ever, I cannot get enough.
I think we all own a few pairs of skinny jeans (says the girl who swore she would wear flares until the day she died. HA!) This fall, I am having so much fun shaking things up with a colored option. I love the deep burgundy color that I have on hand, but army green and camel are perfect for the fall weather, too!
A long, cozy cardigan is a must-have. BP is one of my favorite lines for Nordstrom; their products are all great quality, but they are also affordable! Boyfriend cardigans are my favorite, and are a must for throwing on when you want to be cozy on those chilly fall and winter days. They are coming soon!
I am full on obsessed with swing dresses right now. They are so perfect for a casual day or dinner out, but are great for laying and can be dressed up for the office. They also work with or without tights, with or without a sweater..you get the picture. They are so versatile which allows them to transition well throughout the seasons. I scooped mine up at Old Navy for 7 dollars!
Another trend I was a little bit late to join in on, but LOVE is booties. They spruce up any outfit, and I have also found them to be great for work. Flats really don't cut it when we are dealing with frigid Minnesota winters, but a pencil skirt with riding boots just looks ridiculous. I have found that booties are the perfect compliment both to a casual outfit of jeans and a t-shirt, but also to a skirt and blouse in the office. And I am constantly surprised by how comfortable they are!
Of course, while booties are great for dressing things up, nothing says fall like a good, quality pair of riding boots. I love two-tone boots. The color combination allows them to work with literally any color combination, because I hate nothing more than not being able to wear a pair of shoes because they clash with my top. Two-tone is where it's at!
Last but not least, if you do not yet own a blanket scarf, you MUST jump onto the bandwagon, because they are amazing. They truly do unfold to the size of a small blanket. In fact, I have used mine when I was a sub-par mom and forgot to bring a blanket along to my baby's doctor appointment ;-) They are soft, so very warm, and adorable. I love the classic style, but have seen so many glorious color combinations. I want them all!
What are your go-to styles for fall? Any items that you just have to have once the temperatures turn cold?

Workwear Wednesday

Today, I am linking up with The Pleated Poppy to share some of my go-to workwear styles. Now that I am back to work and wearing things besides yoga pants, I am excited to finally share peeks into my wardrobe again!
I do work full-time outside of the home, and business casual is the name of the game. As I have stepped up a bit in my roles to now having some leadership responsibilities, I really feel a bit more of a need to dress the part. I have always 'dressed up' for work, but I feel the need to be 100% put together a bit more than I used to.

First off, I have not lied when I tell you that I wear one of these shirts nearly every single day. They are amazing. They go great with skirts. They are nice and long to wear with slacks when it is cooler outside. Swap out the dress bottoms with a pair of jean shorts and they are amazing for going out to dinner or on errands once you get home. Just buy them in every color. Seriously.

Pencil skirts are your best friend in the summer months. I just hate being hot at work, and these from Target are my absolute favorite. This one is actually soft and stretchy, but still structured. I have also picked up some fun ones from Forever 21 and Express. Between a collection of pencil skirts and these tunics, there are seriously countless options.

Colored pants are all the rage right now, and make dressing for work in boring black slacks like I have in the past a bit more exciting. Blush, deep red, and patterned pants all have made their appearance in my closet. And yes, I am wearing a tunic in pretty much every picture. I seriously am wearing them on repeat lately.

While I do wear other things to work, these staple pieces have truly been on rotation and my uniform this summer and fall. I am starting to slowly transition to sweaters, warmer dresses, and eventually my favorite tights, but for now I am getting as much use out of my 'warm weather wardrobe' as possible!

What are YOU wearing this week?
