Friday Favorites-First of December

It's officially the most wonderful time of the year! I feel like Friday snuck up on me this week. Between appointments for the kids and being out at health fairs for work, I felt like there wasn't enough time in the day. Of course, maybe I should stay up later than 8:30pm and actually catch up on things ;-) But who wants to do that when sleep is such a hot commodity! We don't have much on the calendar this weekend, aside from sleep training Lincoln *insert wide eyed emoji here* Lately he has been up 3, if not 4 times a night, and this mama just can't hang anymore. I started this week by at least not nursing him to sleep, as that has been his main method of dozing off lately. Instead I have been rocking and bouncing him, which is at least progress towards eliminating night feedings. But there will likely be some tough love this weekend in the hopes that everyone will start getting some better sleep, so wish me luck! Now, onto my favorite things this week.

1. Gap Tunic Tee
You guys. I have been on the hunt for some basic long sleeve tees. They exist just about everywhere, but I always find little things I don't like. Too loose, not long enough, rides up too much, and all too often the main culprit is sleeves that aren't long enough. Well, the search is over. I found these over at the Gap, and am OBSESSED. They are so ridiculously soft, and the sleeves are incredibly long (as in, I have very long arms and these are even long on me). I ordered it the Tall size, but I honestly think I would have been happy in a regular fit too. The quality is amazing, and they have a super wide cuff too, which is great. Right now with the discount online they are only $12, and are worth every single penny!

2. Christmas Tree
Without a doubt, our Christmas tree is one of my favorite things this week. We went with this one, and could not be happier. Assembly was a breeze, and the branches have a memory shape, meaning almost no fluffing. And pre-lit, because do I want to string lights on a 12 foot tree? #nope I haven't managed to get the angel on top yet, because despite being tall I'm not quite that tall and I need a ladder! But in the meantime here is a teeny sneak peek :-)

3. Sweatpants
During all of the Black Friday/Cyber Monday goodness, I stumbled upon these sweatpants at Old Navy. I know I know, men's section. But honestly I hate how fitted all women's 'loungewear' is. Isn't the point of lounging to be comfortable? And yoga pants simply do not work for throwing on over gym clothes when you need to bundle up before going to the gym. And, as always, I had all the heart eyes when I saw that these come in TALL. I bought some for both Mike and myself. Just in time for the holidays when I begin eating my weight in cookies ;-)

4. Sweater
I have been on the hunt for an off the shoulder sweater, and have had a hard time finding one that I really liked that was also at a good price point. And I saw this one at Express and wanted it immediately. I ordered it in blush, and am so in love with it! It is soft, a nice length, and the neckline fabric is wide enough that it stays off the shoulder. I swear so many off the shoulder tops never stay off the shoulder and awkwardly ride up, but this one stays put.

5. Disney Ornament
So I am a huge fan of animated ornaments. I have a few, but my mom has one on her tree that is the Disney World castle, and when you press the button it plays When You Wish Upon A Star and shoots off fireworks. It seriously feels like you are at Disney World and gives me all sorts of warm fuzzies. Well, this year she surprised me and bought me one of my own! Last year I used to turn it on for Jackson every morning when dropping him off at their house, and I was so excited to show him this one. He lit up when seeing it, and learned quickly to say 'dassel' aka castle. We asked him 'isn't it beautiful?' to which he replied 'ooooh AW-FUL!' And now will smile and call it 'aw-ful' whenever we light it up. It is precious and perfect in every way. I wish I could bottle up the magic of the holidays with kiddos. It is so special and brings back all of those things that were so magical when I was a child myself!

I hope you all have a weekend full of twinkly lights, hot chocolate, and all of the Christmas things!

  1. I love Disney ornaments. I sometimes wear mens stuff to because it is comfy. Especially sweats. I just get a super small size. I am always on the hunt for new sweaters so I will definitely check those ones out. Love the sneak peak of your tree. I usually only make it to 9 pm recently as I need my sleep too. Sutton has had a bit of a sleep regression and gets up between 11 pm and 2 am. It takes awhile to fall back asleep so I feel your pain. Here is to hoping for some sleep regression progress this weekend!

    1. I hope you guys get some sleep too! I already totally caved last night when he woke up at 2am and was wide awake. He was so happy and wanted to play so nursing was all I could think to do to get him tired again :-(

  2. I absolutely love the Gap. As a matter of fact, I've got goodies at home waiting on me as we speak! Your tree is beautiful! Hope you get some sleep this weekend. I believe it takes about 3 days to "train". By the way, one of my favorite books is Babywise. Check it out! Thanks for stopping by! I'll be following along going forward!
