Bumpdate: 25/26 Weeks

Wow, some weeks I just cannot keep on top of these bumpdates! Of course, we have had plenty going on, and with me being gone at a conference last week, photo ops were limited ;-) I did manage to get two pictures into this blog, mostly because I think it is so crazy to see the weekly progressions and how things can change. I definitely am feeling great still, but am also beginning to definitely feel pregnant. This week marks my first official experiences of feeling my balance and center of gravity being totally thrown off. Leaning over too quickly throw on my boots is now a dangerous activity, and sitting up on the couch to try and grab a toddler who is about to jump off will not be possible in the very near future. Fingers crossed he doesn't figure out my limitations any time soon..

How far along? 26 weeks
Gender: baby boy!
Total weight gain: Around 18 pounds, I think. Definitely didn't have a 'healthy' week between being at a work conference and then eating for the Superbowl last weekend, but I am definitely trying to eat as good as I can to stay as healthy as I can throughout pregnancy.
Maternity clothes? Yep, but ugh I just don't like them. Maternity pants at least. I did wear my full panel jeans last weekend, but felt like I was continuously pulling them up and adjusting, which is no fun. And my Gap Body maternity tees are great, but other maternity tops just feel big and bulky on me, so it has still been lots of flowy, comfy tops and sweaters. I am really depending on Mr. Groundhog to be right on his prediction of an early spring, because I am DYING to whip out my maxi skirts and dresses.
Stretch marks? No, my skin and belly feel tight this week though, lots of growing going on!
Belly button in or out: In, it never popped with Jackson, but got close, so we will see what happens.
Sleep: I hesitate to even type this, but Jackson, while not doing it quite consistently, has been sleeping through the night! I woke up Monday morning totally frazzled as Mike was on his phone and asked what time it was, and he told me it was 4am and he was getting up for work. I slept through the entire night (because in my world 4am constitutes sleeping through the night). I would say Jackson has had 4 nights of staying in his room all night in the past week and a half, so that is a major small victory in our household!
Exercise: Yes. I have said it a million times and I will say it again, I feel my absolute best in pregnancy during a run. I think it is because I feel strong, am reminded that despite growing every week I am still in good shape, and nothing beats a good sweat sesh. I have even started upping my speeds and distance (don't tell my doctor). I figure if I feel great, why not. Also, did you know exercise during pregnancy increases oxygen supply to the baby and can help them to have better lung development? Especially after having a 'preemie' (only by a few days was he preemie) last time, I find great comfort in knowing I am potentially helping speed up some development!
Best moment this week: Sleeping! Baby has also started kicking hard enough that if I lay an object on my belly, it will shake and move. So fun to watch!
Miss Anything? Putting my shoes on without having to worry about my own safety. I am also starting to get full really easily as baby takes up more room, and I do not like feeling like a stuffed turkey!
Movement: Lots, and getting stronger by the minute. I have felt some legitimate 'JABS' up by my ribs, which thanks to an ultrasound I know are his little feet. Which also means the bladder jabs are punches from my little kickboxer. You can see them from the outside now, too!
Food cravings: Just give me all the food. With winter, warm, cheesy, and loaded with carbs is all I want. I did have a major craving for a chocolate peanut butter shake last week, and Sonic totally filled it.
Symptoms: Definite shift in my balance/center of gravity this week. Feeling a little swelling in my fingers this week, too. Mama should probably cut down on her sodium intake..
Anything making you queasy or sick: No, feeling great lately
Labor Signs: No, but Braxton Hicks are happening. I think I am just much more aware this time because with my first pregnancy I didn't really realize what they were.
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy, but we have a ton going on so I am also feeling a bit like a frazzled crazy person! ;-)
Looking forward to: Friday night fish frys and making Valentines cookies this weekend!

Confessions

Okay you guys, I am SO excited that Jess over at The Newly has decided to host a linkup to do weekly confessions. These posts are always so fun to both read and write, and I can't wait to see what all of the ladies joining in have to dish out this week! Young mama's and 20-somethings have a lot on their plates, and a good ole sesh fest is sometimes exactly what the doctor ordered.

I confess..

I hate the cold. Hate, hate, hate it. This week has been in the single digits with blustery winds, and I literally can't deal. I think the reason February is the shortest month of the year is because it feels like the longest month of the year. No one likes you, February.

I feel way more pregnant at 25 weeks this time than I did last time. Looking at pictures, I really don't think I am much bigger when comparing, but little man has been giving me ninja kicks in the right side ribs already, my bladder control went out the window somewhere around week 3, and my center of gravity is gone and putting on my boots is now a dangerous activity. Sigh.

I have been eating terribly lately. I have had some excuses, like a work conference where all meals are catered/eaten out, the super bowl, and it being winter where all I want is comfort food, but still. I do my best to keep it under control and don't indulge TOO much, but you better believe I indulge.

I drink pop this pregnancy. I know, I know. Terrible. I try to stick to caffeine free when I can, but one definite craving I have had over the past six months is for a cold, fizzy diet pepsi. And when it strikes, it strikes hard. I never fed Jackson any caffeine while pregnant, and the kid still doesn't sleep at night, so honestly I just don't really care.

I am Catholic and yesterday was the first day of Lent, where we are supposed to give something up until Easter. Selfishly, I don't know if I'm going to. I have given up my body to growing another human being, which means giving up alcohol, sleeping comfortably, and fitting into 90% of my clothes. I think that is all sacrifice enough.

I am ruining the mattress on the crib because I lay next to Jackson when he wakes up in the middle of the night, and then usually fall asleep for an hour before waking up and going back to bed. It literally is starting to sink in the middle. Woops.

I still do not get the whole Lilly Pulitzer thing. To you ladies that love it, more power to you, but the style, prices, and patterns just constantly having me scratching my head trying to figure out 'why'.

I am practicing major self control to keep myself from buying all of the fun, new spring clothing hitting stores, because realistically I know I won't be able to wear any of it until at least April, and then I will be huge.

Speaking of purchases, as a post baby body comeback motivation gift, I bought a new swimsuit the other week. It showed up on my social media feed, and was only ten dollars, so I am super skeptical of the quality. And, I have no foreseeable reason to wear a swimsuit. But I will rock that new bikini this summer, with a baby on each hip.

This week marks the return of Grey's Anatomy and The Walking Dead and I could not. be. more. excited. Finally, weekly TV shows to look forward to are back!!

Healthy Valentine's Snacks: What's Hap-pinning

I am all about celebrating the holidays. You can take an ordinary day and make it so special by taking a few extra minutes to spruce things up. Now that the holiday season has come and gone, winter can feel a bit ‘blah’. That is one reason that I love Valentine’s Day! While it may be a Hallmark holiday, I don’t know how you can go wrong with pink, glitter, and the extra reminder to let those around you know that they are loved!
Of course, Valentine’s Day is also a holiday involving lots of candy, extravagant meals, and EXTRA LARGE boxes of chocolate. While I love chocolate as much as the rest of the world, I also limit my indulgences and make things like chocolate roses and boxes of sweethearts a special treat, rather than a regular occurrence. Just because you don’t give into a sugar craving does not mean that you can’t celebrate the day of love, though!
Heart Shaped Cutouts
Cookie cutters come in a variety of sizes, and they can be used for much more than just cookies! Slice a cucumber into coins, cut strawberries in half, and use the cutter to bring a lot of fun with little work! This can be done with just about any fruit or vegetable, including tomatoes, squash, watermelon, cantaloupe, or honeydew melons. Do a bit of food prep on the weekend when you have more time to get all of your cleaning and slicing of these fruits and veggies done. Then, when you get home from work and school during the week, whip out some mini cookie cutters and turn simple sliced veggies into fun, exciting Valentine’s treats!
We whipped up this fun snack after my little guy’s afternoon nap, and opted for cucumbers, strawberries, red peppers, and mangoes.

Fruit Notes
It can be fun to slip a little note into your child’s lunchbox, so they know that you are thinking of them throughout the day. Why not spice things up a bit, though, and move that message from the napkin to the meal! Cutie oranges, bananas, and anything with a removable peel can be a super fun way to send a valentine’s message to the ‘Cuties’ in your life! Or, if you are willing to take things up a notch, invest in edible food markers (found at craft stores and other major retailers) and write on any fruit your heart desires!

These Valentine’s snacks are simple, easy, and can be accomplished in a matter of minutes! It doesn’t take hours and lots of prep to bring festivity to a holiday. A few minutes is all it takes to bring a little bit of love and nutrition to the V-Day table!

I can't wait to see what everyone else is up to today! Linking up with HollyJenn, and Jessi!

Weekending: New House Progress

Once again, happy Monday my friends! I must say that this was a pretty lackluster weekend. On Friday, I had the day off due to working long days and being out of town for a conference the majority of the week-yay!
Despite it being superbowl weekend, we basically hung out in our pajamas, ate unhealthy foods, and went to bed after what I deemed to be a totally 'eh' halftime show. #sorrynotsorry I just was not feeling Coldplay at all. AND Budweiser didn't do a puppy commercial this year, which is basically the only reason I watch the Superbowl anyway. Two years ago, I was pregnant with Jackson and couldn't watch this commercial without bursting into tears. Those hormones, I tell ya. Maybe Budweiser heard I was pregnant and pulled the puppies to save those surrounded me from the water works?
I may be crying again. No shame.

Due to our chill and uneventful weekend, I figured now would be a great time to share updates on where we are at with our new home! For those of you who don't know, we are building our new house, and are hopeful to start digging and the construction process within the next 2 months or so! WOW, typing that seems crazy, as our 'wait to build time' seemed like it would take forever, and now we are really down to the grind and realizing that timelines are getting tight. We had a floor plan selected, modified, and ready to go nearly two months ago, and were feeling really great with where we were sitting. We had time to really peruse builders, explore our options for details, and not feel rushed. All was well, until we sent the print out to bid and it came back at $70,000 above what we had initially been told it would cost to build. To some, maybe that isn't a big deal. But to me, that is our next new vehicle, our spending money for fun things every month, or, you know, one of my children's college tuition. I was not a happy camper, mostly because had we been told that number from the start, we would never have pursued that floor plan from day one.

We sat on the news for a few days, and really brainstormed what our options were. Should we shave down the size? Eliminate a bedroom? Cut out the two story ceilings? We actually did the last one, as the guy we were working with said the cost of labor increased due to the high ceilings and cutting them out would cut down costs. So we redrafted, rebid, and...costs came back to same. At this point I think steam was coming out of my ears. I can take someone telling me straight up 'I think this house is just going to be out of your range' better than I can take wasting nearly a month trying to make something work that I think everyone looking at our plan knew just was not going to. So, back to square one.

Mike and I returned to the place where we had initially looked at plans last summer and decided we were going to be as straight up about pricing as possible. For anyone looking to build, do NOT be afraid to ask detailed questions, or be very strict in terms of what you are or are not willing to spend. This past weekend, we walked in and basically said 'if it costs more than 'X' to build, tell us straight out and we will turn the page'. And you know what, it was great to do because they were able to explain right away why something would cost more, show us alternatives that were similar but more conservative in terms of expenses, and so on. We also knew a few details we were absolutely not willing to sacrifice, the biggest being a main floor master suite. We are really hoping to build the house that we are in for the long haul, as in once the kids are gone, we are old and gray, and everything we need is on one level. And also, we can send the kids upstairs ten years from now and enjoy some peace and quiet :-) So, as we perused plans, wouldn't you know, we stumbled across one that had the same number of bedrooms, same functional living spaces we wanted, a great kitchen space, and much to this mama's desire, two story ceilings over the living room! It really was as if someone took our original plan, said maintain all of the details that makes this house what it is while eliminating any wasted space, and somehow reworked it into a perfect plan. We were told an honest estimated cost to build, and it is where we need it to be. So, we made a few super minor tweaks, moved forward with having them redraft, and are purchasing it!

So that's it. We have our floor plan! Now we not-so-patiently await the draft to be finalized, send it out to bid, and really get the ball rolling on this whole process. We are so excited, and terrified, but cannot wait to get started. We also decided to go with a new builder after all of our frustrations with the original plan, and feeling like the people we were working with really didn't have our best interest in mind, nor did they seem to listen to us (HELLO not having the insight to tell us we were creating a house in a completely different price bracket!!) We haven't finalized our new builder yet, but have been working with a guy who is super attentive, insightful, and seems very down to earth. The crazy is about to officially begin, but one day, I know we will sleep again ;-)

Jackson 18 Month Update

I do not know how it is possible that I blinked and my baby boy is as close to age two as he is to his first birthday. Every month seems to fly by faster and faster, which is why I do everything I can to soak in his snuggles when he demands coming into our bed at two in the morning. My baby is growing so fast, and is more fun to be around every single day. He is truly our sunshine, our greatest entertainer, and an incredible reminder of how blessed we are to call him ours.

Growth
After realizing we really haven't measured him since his 15 month checkup (where he was off the charts for height and at the very top for weight) I decided to measure/weigh him this past weekend. Good news, he is still huge. According to the bathroom scale, he weighs 30.5 pounds (98th percentile), and is 36 inches tall, which is literally off the charts. I just saw another blogger post an update on her newly two year old, who at 36 inches came in at the 92nd percentile, if that puts things into perspective at all. He literally shot up overnight, as all of the sudden all of his footie pajamas went from fitting to being stretched to the max. I pretty much had to run to the store this past week for an impromptu shopping trip, because while I usually try to be prepped for the next size of clothing, this time I totally was not. I stocked up on 2T pants, and 3T shirts. Once I put the pants on I realized just how short his other pants had become. Woops. Sorry buddy, you are growing too fast and mommy can't keep up!

Eating

Our sweet boy is a picky eater. And there is really no rhyme or reason to his pickiness. Foods that are always good to go with him include hot dogs, chicken nuggets, string cheese, any kind of dry cereal, halo oranges, strawberries, chocolate chip pancakes, and deli meats.
Foods that have sent him into a fit of rage (we are talking hysterics and tears) include mashed potatoes, bananas, oatmeal, any type of pasta with red sauce, casseroles, and taco meat.
Foods that he has tried and gobbled down, only to refuse days later include red peppers, corn, macaroni and cheese, blackberries, tator tot hotdish, and stir fry.
On this particular day, my sweet boy was positive I was going to give him fruit snacks for breakfast.

We decided we were going to start with a bit of tough love in the past few weeks, and he has gotten at least a bit less selective with his eating. He will now at least touch things with red sauce on top, and has finally proven that he is indeed our child with his love of pizza. He also has become a huge fan of cereal with regular or almond milk, particularly cheerios and rice krispies. And, when all else fairs, fruit pouches with veggies snuck in are high on his list of favorites, so I can sneak him a snack and know he is getting more vegetables than he would if I served them straight up. Small steps, but progress.

Sleep

Oh Jackson, my sweet, sweet, Jackson. I love you more than anything, but your sleep habits, I do not. Shortly before moving into the in-law's house, he went through major sleep regression, and being we were moving and his schedule was going to get messed up anyway, we started bringing him into bed with us. Big mistake, new parents, don't do this. Just, NO. Here we are, six months later, and I can count on one hand the number of times he has stayed in his bed for the whole night. I will say that most nights, once he is in our bed, he goes right back to sleep and there is little fussing or wanting to play. He is such a restless sleeper though, and his favorite position, unfortunately, is to lay on top of me, or to slowly manage to push me so far to the side that I am halfway off the edge of the bed. Some nights are better than others, but some nights he likes to sleep horizontally and kicks Mike in the head. Needless to say, we need to break this habit. Mike has a week off over the holidays, and we think we might tackle breaking this habit then. But we will see.
In the past few weeks, we have gotten into a bedtime routine that I am loving. We get his milk, go to the rocking chair, and read a couple of books. Once we are through the books, I turn off the lamp, turn him to lay down to finish his milk, and we sing a couple of songs. As soon as he polishes off his bottle, he sits up, turns in towards my chest, and cuddles up under his blanket and is usually asleep within minutes. I know he needs to learn to self soothe, and I know he should be able to fall asleep without being held, but honestly, these moments are my favorite part of the day lately. I know that the cuddles don't last forever, and holding my sweet boy as I hear his breathing switch over and get heavy once he falls asleep is so special. Why is it after spending hours wishing they would go to sleep so you can have some time to yourself, they fall asleep and you can't bring yourself to put them down. I wish I could stare at my sweet boy sleeping in my arms forever.

Speech
Our little guy has been a bit delayed in the speech department, so we have been working with him as much as possible on asking for things and communicating. We definitely have always kind of just 'given' him whatever he wants, so he really hasn't needed to vocalize much until recently. He really has come leaps and bounds in the past few weeks though. He is still not saying as many words as he would like, but his interaction has increased so much just in the past week or two. If you ask him a question, he will answer (in grunts and babbles). In fact, his answer to pretty much everything is 'dad'. While I wish he would say other things, it is also absolutely adorable when you ask him 'what did you have for dinner' and he replies 'dada'. On a funny note, he started staring off into the corner of the room when we are putting him to bed, smiling back at me and saying 'TED. Dead.' Creepy? Yes. But I now love to ask him 'where is Ted', to which he will always smile and say 'dead'. Again, totally creepy, but it cracks me up! Aside from mama and dada, he also says 'DONE' (often loudly at the dinner table before he has taken a single bite of food), 'gain' aka again, and random babbles that I am not sure what they mean, but are definitely 'new' sounds and noises he is trying out, which makes me happy.
Again, we continue to work on new works, object identification, and reading books, but for now we are having fun learning to communicate with him and watching him try to tell us stories that we 100% cannot understand.

Habits
There are so many little things that our Jax has picked up on in the last month or so. He started doing a backwards shuffle on his tippy-toes, as well as a tippy-toe side step, and both are almost too cute to handle. Over the holidays, I would play the animated Christmas ornaments and he would screech and giggle and do an excited little dance. Again, too cute to handle. He has started throwing tantrums a bit more, but nothing too obnoxious yet. He has mastered his 'fake laugh', and it is the cheesiest thing you ever did hear. Running across the couch is a favorite activity as of lately, despite everyone's efforts to immediately make him stop. He has mastered turning the dishwasher on and off, and also knows which button on the remote control turns off the TV. Talking to Siri on our iPhones will have him laughing harder than just about anything, as will watching videos of himself laughing. I think we just might need to cut back the technology around him, because he is obsessed with pressing any kind of button he can get his little hands on. His absolute favorite show is still Wallykazam, and he will sit and watch entire episodes beginning to end without moving a muscle. He also likes Bubble Guppies, Little Einsteins, and the baby channel, but nothing comes close to Wally. He loves to put legos together and take them apart, and gets pretty darn upset when two are stuck together that he wants separated.

After hating his new snow boots with a passion, he figured out that putting them on means he gets to go outside, and since then he has never looked back. He loves playing in the snow, hearing it crunch beneath his feet, and getting pulled in the sled or pushed down the hill. I am so happy it is February and we are approaching at least SOME warmer days, meaning going on walks and getting outside more often, because truly nothing makes him happier.
Another new favorite activity is coloring, and he only tries to eat the crayons and markers half of the time. If he is being restless, clingy, or just seems bored, putting him at the table and giving him a coloring book usually does the trick. It is so much fun to watch him begin to do activities that work on his fine motor skills and allow him to start expressing himself.
He loves to drop what he is doing, run across the room, and give the biggest, sweetest hugs. There is never any doubt whether or not Jackson is happy to see you, and it makes me so happy to have such a fun, loving little boy who adores his mom and dad so much. Everyone that meets him comments on how he never stops smiling, and it really is true. He is such a happy little guy, and his smiles and laughs will melt your heart.

Truly, his personality has just exploded recently, and I want to remember all of these precious things that he does. The hours are long, but the days are short, and as soon as he begins doing something new, he stops doing something else. Every stage is so special, and I continue to be humbled every day that we have the honor of calling Jackson ours. To the moon and back, we love you Jax Attack!

24 Week Bumpdate and Pregnancy Favorites

Happy Friday all! Considering that I hit my 'weekly milestone' on Friday every week, it seems like the day that makes the most sense to do my bumpdates. However, this also often means forgoing my Friday Favorites, which just isn't any fun! So, I figured for the next few months, why not combine the two and focus my favorites around pregnancy! Let's be real, any lady out there who has been pregnant knows that there are lots of random, helpful, and fun favorites that you stumble across during the glorious 9 months of baby incubation. I think it will be fun to look back and remember how the favorites evolve and change throughout the 9 months, too!
Top (non maternity) // Tank (non maternity) // Leggings (non maternity)

How far along?  24 weeks
Gender: Baby boy!
Total weight gain: Based on my home scale/gym scale, about 15 pounds. I checked my records from the clinic for my last pregnancy and I was at exactly 15 pounds at 24 weeks that go around too! This must be the month of pregnancy where I eat my feelings..
Maternity clothes? Yes, but still mostly just getting by on stretchy and non-form fitting regular clothes. I don't 'need' to wear maternity clothes yet, sometimes they are just more comfortable! Noticed this week that my leggings definitely felt tight around the top, which was just depressing. Still fitting, just not how I like. Baggy sweaters and flowy shirts continue to be where it's at for me.
Stretch marks? Nope! Definitely growing more this time (or so it seems) so we will see how that one pans out.
Belly button in or out: In
Sleep: We had a night this week where Jackson actually slept in his bed until 5am, which has been practically unheard of over the past few months, so that was awesome! Otherwise, not too bad, and I have managed to hold off on getting up to use the bathroom as much as possible.
Exercise: Still going strong! I have been running about 3 days a week still, and am hopeful that once the weather warms up a bit I can increase that by going on walks/runs during the week as well!
Best moment this week: Eating my absolute favorite grilled cheese and tomato soup on Wednesday. You know you're pregnant when your weekly highlight is food.
Miss Anything? My work wardrobe! It is sad to have so many cute clothes hanging there that I really can't wear and instead feeling frumpy at work every day.
Movement: Still lots of moving and shaking going on. The movements have gone from the belly flutters to legitimate kicks and jabs, particularly on my right side. Fingers crossed the little guy isn't too hard on my ribs as he continues to grow.
Food cravings: Mike and Ikes, or any chewy, fruity candy. Ice cream. Still Cheez Its. Spaghetti and cheese bread. I am trying really hard to clean up my eating after a month of basically giving into every craving that came my way.
Symptoms: Just overall pressure that is definitely a new experience this round of pregnancy. Braxton hicks. Nothing too major this week.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope, give me all the food.
Labor Signs: No.
Wedding rings on or off? On.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Just a little stressed this week, but we have a lot going on, so I would be stressed anyway! No spontaneous tears this week, so I consider that a win!
Looking forward to: Seeing my little guy on the ultrasound today!!!

Pregnancy Favorites at 24 weeks!

1. Baby Belly Bar

I have only been able to find this item on Amazon, but I cannot say enough about how great it is. It is in solid form, so you just rub it all over your belly, without leaving excess on hour hands. It is thick, and 24 hours after applying I can still feel the moisturizing effects on my skin. It is heaven sent when you reach that itchy belly point of pregnancy, which is right where I am sitting. This will be with me at all times for the next sixteen weeks.

2. Bath and Body Works aromatheraphy scrubs

These are on sale right now for only $8 a piece, plus there is a 20% off coupon floating around out there, so run and grab one (or five!) This is another great product once your belly really starts growing. I use it in the shower 2-3 times per week, and it smells incredible, sloughs off dead, itchy skin, and leaves behind moisturizing oils that nourish your skin. I used these in the end of my pregnancy with Jackson, and am definitely using them again now!

3. Mike and Ikes.

Fruity, chewy sweetness is all that I want lately. I just discovered the italian ice Mike and Ikes, and am obsessed. Which is not good for my pregnancy weight gain.. It doesn't necessarily have to be Mike and Ikes. Skittles, Starburst jelly beans, basically if it is sweet and chewy, I want it. So delicious. I may have spent a week with a box of Mike and Ikes besides the bed so I could have a handful in the middle of the night when I woke up starving..

4. Healthy Mama prenatal vitamins

I found these at Target, and love that it all comes in one package. These also don't make me as sick as other vitamins have, which is a total plus. My doctor recommend I take a calcium/Vitamin D3 supplement, and this vitamin pack is one of the few I have found that has that included, so I can stop taking those fruit chews that make me sick to my stomach. Totally love this product.

5. Old Navy go dri leggings.

These aren't maternity, and I don't know if they will last through my entire pregnancy. But, first and foremost they come in tall (happy dance for me!), second they are highwaisted, with a thick panel so a thin band isn't cutting into you mid-bump. And third, they are thick, warm, and ten times more durable than all of my other leggings. I bought two pairs, and am having to ration when I wear them, because realistically I would love to wear these to work every single day. They are fabulous, and will be great once pregnancy has ended, too!

What's Up Wednesday!

First off, can I get a HALLELUJAH that it is the final week of January!? I hate to admit that I wish a month of the year away..but I do. There is just nothing to like about January, in my opinion. Ugh. That's not to say there haven't been little peaks and highlights this month, but I am ready to trade in winter for warmer temps..heck, I'll even take temps in the 40's at this point! ;-)

What we're eating this week

We nommed on spaghetti on Monday night, which has majorly been a pregnancy craving this go around. Spaghetti and garlic cheese bread sounds good at all times. And tonight I am making tomato soup and the best grilled cheese ever. You guys, once you make this, no other grilled cheese will do!

What I'm reminiscing about

I am totally just reminiscing on better weather. Isn't it funny how we are so excited for the seasons to change, but get so sick of the seasons after awhile? Totally daydreaming about breezy spring days, blooming flowers, and going on evening walks with my little guy.

What I'm loving

Mike and Ikes. Yet another pregnancy craving. Basically any fruity, chewy candy is my jam lately. I am also loving Adele's newest song? Have you guys heard it? If I could have one superpower, it would be to have a singing voice like Adele's. Because that is what it is, a superpower.

What we've been up to

Unfortunately, house stuff lately. And possibly switching builders. So, not fun house stuff. We have hit one of those road bumps (which realistically I knew we would) but it has definitely been consuming our free time and thoughts lately. I will be one very happy lady once that floor plan is finalized and the ground is broken!

What I'm dreading

The rest of the work week. HA! That's kind of sad isn't it. I have had a busy couple of weeks, but the remainder of this week is quiet with little to nothing going on. I go a little stir crazy when I don't get to leave my desk all day. Will most likely be running to get my groceries on my lunch break because I struggle when I don't get a chance of scenery!

What I'm working on

House plans! Team effort with me and my husband, but definitely our biggest and most important project right now. Oh, I am baking a baby, too ;-) just about 24 weeks and he is definitely making his presence known in the past week or two!

What I'm excited about

Valentine's Day! I am not a huge romantic, I don't go all out with flowers and hearts and candy. But I love a good excuse to bake holiday themed treats, and want to make every holiday now that I have kids as special and magical as possible.

What I'm watching/reading

Still on our O.C. kick. We are halfway through the third season, so will probably wrap it all up in the next month or so. It is amazing how TV time becomes practically nonexistent once you have a little one. Long gone are our marathon Netflix binges on weekends. We are lucky to get in more than one episode of anything at a time!

What I'm listening to

See above. All hail Adele. Unlike most ladies, I am holding strong and refusing to give into the Bieber Fever now that he has rebranded himself and all. I just can't.

What I'm wearing

Baggy sweaters. Leggings. Sweater dresses. And yoga pants. Hidden beneath a puffy jacket, boots, and blanket scarves. Pregnant in January is not my favorite. But at least it is cozy.

What I'm doing this weekend

I have my 24 week appointment this Friday, and can't wait to see my little guy on the ultrasound! We also have my grandpa's 75th birthday party, and likely lots of discussing and figuring out house things. And since it is winter and there isn't much else to do..I will be baking and eating said baked treats.

What I'm looking forward to next month

I have a work conference in Minneapolis, and since Mike commutes every day and I will have a hotel for two nights, I think he will just be staying with me. We haven't taken a trip just the two of us since our honeymoon, and while this definitely isn't a 'trip', I am excited to be lazy in a hotel room, go out to dinner with no deadline of when we have to be home, and just enjoy a few nights of quiet. I think we need it! And I'm sure my in-laws won't mind a quiet house with us gone and Jackson with my parents, either ;-)

What else is new

Not a whole lot, I am just doing a happy dance we all survived the longest month of the year! Bring on February, a bit more sunshine, and Shamrock shakes!
