It's Friday! Unfortunately, after what was possible the most perfect spring weekend of all time last week, we are looking at temps in the 40s and lots of rain, to build on our week of nonstop rain we have already been having. So, I am already brainstorming some indoor activities to keep the kids happy over the weekend. Any ideas on how to spend a rainy day with two toddlers are more than welcome! Before diving into the weekend though, I am sharing my favorite things from this week!
1. One Shoulder Dress
Earlier this week, Old Navy was offering 40% off everything, and I had been eyeing up this dress for ages. Not only was I able to apply the discount, but it was already 50% off. I snagged it for ten dollars. You better believe I clicked 'add to cart' and purchased the second I saw this. It is so cute, and perfect for all of the summer events we have going on between bridal showers and wedding stuff for my brother!
2. Fresh Denim
I shared in my post yesterday about the new jeans I snagged up this week. I have seen these quite a bit lately, with all of the distressing. When I purchased my tomgirl shorts earlier this week, I saw that these were marked down to $19.99. And so, snag them up I did! I did a really good job last month of buying NO clothing, and I have been so lacking for jeans lately, I thought it was time to invest in a few new pairs. I have been loving these jeggings too!
3. Toddler Talk
Jackson has been quite the character lately. He is definitely in the throes of his terrible twos, but he also says things every day that absolutely melt me. This week, he has been coming down the stairs every morning and will announce 'daddy at work'. Mike leaves SUPER early every morning, so he is always gone before the rest of us wake up. After announcing this, Jackson has been telling me what daddy is doing. One day, it was 'Daddy go to store to find a minion'. The next day, he declared 'Daddy at work. Daddy getting pizza!' Note that most of the time, he thinks daddy is off buying him his favorite things ;-) I just love watching the little wheels in his head turn as he figures out the world!
4. Daycare Success
This week, Lincoln started daycare. My mother cared for Jackson until he turned two, and with Lincoln, we made the decision that after his first birthday would be a good time to start. Age two was harder than I ever anticipated for starting; Jackson cried at both dropoff and pickup for months. He thrived while I was away, but it was always so hard to leave him crying, or having him burst into tears the second he saw my car pull up at the end of the day. While Lincoln certainly has some adjusting to do, he really seems to be so happy at daycare! When we arrive in the morning, I am able to set him down and he takes right off climbing up the stairs. His biggest issue is not being held all day long, or being confined to a playpen ;-) I am so glad it is going as well as it is, though!
Sweet boy has been totally wiped out at the end of the day!
5. Summer Throw Blankets
I always have at least one throw blanket on our couch. In the past, my husband would usually pull out old blankets, whether it be ninja turtle quilts, or my obnoxious tie blankets from high school. While these may be cozy, they aren't exactly aesthetically pleasing. So, once we moved into our new house, I made it a point to have a few cozy, but pretty, blankets on our couch. And we use them like crazy! The two we currently have are faux fur, and while I love them, I am thinking I would like to swap out to some that are a bit more seasonal and lightweight. I saw this one at Target and love it. I also love this yarn dyed option. I have so much fun swapping out décor pieces throughout the year-it really helps to freshen things up while requiring very little change! Add in a set of pretty throw pillows and you are good to go!
Have a fabulous weekend everyone. I hope it is filled with sunshine and pool time!

So glad the transition to daycare is going well! That always makes dropoff easier. I love a good throw blanket! It could be 100 degrees outside and I'm still snuggled up w a throw on the sofa haha. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteThat's so great that Lincoln is doing great at day care! What a praise! We keep cute(er) blankets in a big basket in our living room and I don't care if it's the middle of summer, I will still get a blanket to get cozy on the couch to watch TV at night. ;) That dress is precious on you! I love that it was $10, too! Can't beat that! Walker used to say when he was 2, "Daddy's at work buying eggs." What?! You would ask him what Daddy does at work and he would immediately reply, "Go to work buy eggs!" I have no idea where that came from since Brandon sells aircraft parts, but, uh, sure, bud! ;)
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday! I'm one who also always pulls out throws. I love that you are enjoying some pretty and cozy ones! Hope you and your kiddos enjoy some indoor fun despite the rain outside this coming weekend! xo - Brenda // ChattingOverChocolate.com
ReplyDeleteA $10 dress?! Now that's my kind of shopping. It looks great on you! Toddler talk is so cute and it will be even more adorable when they are both talking together. I love that he thinks his daddy buys eggs. That's hilarious! So glad to hear everything is going well with daycare too. Have a great weekend! Beautifully Candid
ReplyDeleteHahah I looove that he assumes his dad is out buying him things! That's too cute! And I'm OBSESSED with that dress! What a steal! And I love throw blankets, they're one of those things I continue to buy even though I have way too many! Hope you have an awesome weekend!! // This Sublime Life
ReplyDeleteI love that first Target blanket- may need to pick that one up soon! That's awesome that Lincoln did so well at daycare- it's always nice when your kids are together. Ari starts kinder at Trip's school next year, and I can't wait to see what elementary life brings for them together. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI need that dress. When I go check out the shorts I listed in today's post, I will look for this dress. So cute. I need summer throws too. Gotta change things up! yay for an easy transition into daycare. I worry about the girls starting a new one and changing up their routine. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteThat is great that Lincoln is doing so well at daycare! Our kids were opposites... Jacob was the one who did great, so he spoiled us. When Olivia came along and started crying every time at dropoff it made things so hard! Have a great weekend, girl!
ReplyDeleteLOL I love the one about daddy getting a minion.
ReplyDeleteThat dress is SO cute!!! I'm so sad I missed that sale at Old Navy! I love their clothes. Happy Friday! :)
