Friday Favorites

It's Friday! And it's September! And my family is all on a 4 day weekend! Life is good and I am all smiles today. On to some Friday Favorites!

1. The state fair!
Kind of on a whim, we decided to both take off today and head down to the Minnesota state fair. You guys, the food at the state fair is unreal. I actually haven't been since seven years ago (I went with my roommates the weekend we moved in, and I was sad because Mike had just left to go home after coming to visit me for the first time). There are so many fried things I want to try, and I am just so excited. We are leaving Lincoln with my parents and braving bringing Jackson with us, which means a trip into the petting zoo is likely in order. Fingers crossed he behaves!

2. Fall Jackets
Now that fall weather is totally upon us here in Minnesota, I am on the hunt for a cute new jacket. I stumbled across this bomber jacket at American Eagle, and think it is the most adorable transitional piece from summer to early fall. I cannot get enough of all of the blush colored things, and this jacket totally fits the bill.

3. Workwear
I received my haul of Old Navy pants this week, and was so excited to try them on! I ordered five pairs, all in the same size, and three of them fit for me to keep. How annoying is it that the exact same pants in the exact same size don't fit the same? I digress. One of the pairs I kept was the jeggings in the photo below. I paired them with the famous (and my favorite) tunic and some nude flats, and had the perfect business casual look for a fall day. I am not lying when I literally wore one of these tunics in a different color every.single.day. this week. They are so perfect for work or play, I am obsessed!

4. Pumpkin Spice
Caribou Coffee (the Starbucks of the midwest) launched the PSL early for perks members, so I already enjoyed TWO of them this week. And both days it was breezy and totally felt like fall. I can't believe how a season can make a person so happy, but it does, and I know I am not alone!

5. Baby Giggles
Oh my gosh you guys, Lincoln just laughs all of the time, and it is seriously the sweetest thing ever. Basically, he is either laughing hysterically, or crying hysterically. Not much middle of the road with this guy ;-) But he is ticklish, loving, and just the most precious little man. He is happiest in the mornings, and my favorite time of the day as of late is when I am getting ready and he is talking to himself in his bassinet. When I finally go over and say good morning to him, he gets so excited he doesn't even know how to handle himself. My sweet boy.

I hope you all have a fabulous Labor Day weekend, with lots of sunshine, a few adult cocktails, and soaking up every last bit of summer before we official enter the most wonderful four months of the year!

Workwear Wednesday

It has been a LONG time since I have done a Workwear Wednesday post, but with the warm weather and sunshine this week, I was feeling inspired! For the first time since September, I rocked a dress this week and was able to show off my legs and let them see some sunshine. Let me tell you, nothing feels better after a long Minnesota winter than feeling the fresh air on your skin.

Dress // Jacket (old, nearly exact here) // Shoes

I scooped up this dress at Old Navy this past weekend. As it was an online exclusive size (because Old Navy is the holy land and sells tall items online), it was marked down to an additional 50% off. So, I scooped it up for a whopping $7.50. I couldn't believe it! I paired it with a white denim jacket, which is an absolute must have in your wardrobe. I own both a regular denim as well as a white denim jacket, and I wear them non-stop during the spring, summer, and fall. They are perfect for throwing on when it cools off, or covering your shoulders for the office when you are rocking an adorable maxi dress that doesn't quite fit the dress code. To complete the look, I decided it just isn't quite warm enough for open toe shoes, so I opted for these adorable booties that I snagged on sale at none other than Target this winter. They have a nice low heel, fun fringe to spice things up, and are super comfortable (read: no breaking in necessary!)

I know I still have some growing to do, but I just LOVE pieces like this dress that I can wear both during pregnancy and after. It is super stretchy, long enough to cover everything that needs to be covered, and the t-shirt sleeves make this a great piece to wear to work, running errands, or even thrown on over a swimsuit once summer arrives! They come in a variety of colors, so go snag up a few right now!

Linking up with Jen & Jessi, Holly, and Lindsey over at The Pleated Poppy!
