Spring Fashion for the Office

I don't know about you, but I am sick and tired of my 'winter' wardrobe. I am craving all things bright, colorful, and spring! It is time to swap out the thick, chunky items in dark and wintry colors. Give me all the florals, pastels and neons! I work a desk job that requires me to dress business casual, but that does not mean that my work wardrobe doesn't have seasons throughout the year just like my regular wardrobe. I love to swap out items, and cannot tell you how excited I am for the weather to be warm enough for me to start wearing pencil skirts again. Let me tell you, nothing makes you feel more polished and put together than a pencil skirt ;-) I rounded up some of my favorite fashions for the office that are available this spring, and am dying to share!

White Skirts
My mission this season is to find a cute white pencil skirt. I wear my black and navy skirts on rotation with my favorite tunic tucked in, and love them! I think white brings such a different look to this classic business style. Paired with a pretty blue or yellow top, and you look ready for spring and that fun board meeting that's on your calendar.

Blush Tops
I cannot stop loving all of the blush things. I really love wearing a blouse to work recently, it is just so much more classy and delicate than other options. The cold has forced me into a lot of thick sweaters the past few months, so I can't wait to start busting out my airy and pretty tops this spring!

Maxi Dresses
I love, love, LOVE the fact that warmer weather makes it allowable to wear maxi dresses to work. I won't necessarily pull out this look on a day where I have an important meeting, but maxi dresses can be dressed up or down. Throw on a cute blazer or cardigan and it is totally office appropriate. And, at the end of the day when it warms up outside, you can ditch the jacket and be ready to run errands or hang out outside!

White Pants
Similar to my love of white skirts, I am also obsessed with white pants! They just feel so fresh, and immediately brighten not only your look, but your mood too! I have been wearing mine already with booties this winter, but think they will look great with some nude flats in a month or so, as well!

Fun Blazers
Who said all blazers need to be neutral and safe? I love throwing on a floral blazer for a fun pop that is still professional. A bright colored blazer is a fun option too. And continuing on the blush train, this option with the cute cuffs on the bottom is my absolute favorite!

Fun bottoms
Similar to the blazers, a pop of color in your pants is such a fun and unique way to liven up an outfit! I love to thrown on a pair of blush bottoms (again with the blush!) or even a bright red, and then pair with a neutral top. It is a great way to get noticed and stand out for the world of black and navy, while still keeping it classy.

What are some of your favorite items to wear to the office? How do you keep your work wardrobe from getting stale and boring?

Workwear Wednesday

Today, I am linking up with The Pleated Poppy to share some of my go-to workwear styles. Now that I am back to work and wearing things besides yoga pants, I am excited to finally share peeks into my wardrobe again!
I do work full-time outside of the home, and business casual is the name of the game. As I have stepped up a bit in my roles to now having some leadership responsibilities, I really feel a bit more of a need to dress the part. I have always 'dressed up' for work, but I feel the need to be 100% put together a bit more than I used to.

First off, I have not lied when I tell you that I wear one of these shirts nearly every single day. They are amazing. They go great with skirts. They are nice and long to wear with slacks when it is cooler outside. Swap out the dress bottoms with a pair of jean shorts and they are amazing for going out to dinner or on errands once you get home. Just buy them in every color. Seriously.

Pencil skirts are your best friend in the summer months. I just hate being hot at work, and these from Target are my absolute favorite. This one is actually soft and stretchy, but still structured. I have also picked up some fun ones from Forever 21 and Express. Between a collection of pencil skirts and these tunics, there are seriously countless options.

Colored pants are all the rage right now, and make dressing for work in boring black slacks like I have in the past a bit more exciting. Blush, deep red, and patterned pants all have made their appearance in my closet. And yes, I am wearing a tunic in pretty much every picture. I seriously am wearing them on repeat lately.

While I do wear other things to work, these staple pieces have truly been on rotation and my uniform this summer and fall. I am starting to slowly transition to sweaters, warmer dresses, and eventually my favorite tights, but for now I am getting as much use out of my 'warm weather wardrobe' as possible!

What are YOU wearing this week?

Workwear Wednesday

It has been a LONG time since I have done a Workwear Wednesday post, but with the warm weather and sunshine this week, I was feeling inspired! For the first time since September, I rocked a dress this week and was able to show off my legs and let them see some sunshine. Let me tell you, nothing feels better after a long Minnesota winter than feeling the fresh air on your skin.

Dress // Jacket (old, nearly exact here) // Shoes

I scooped up this dress at Old Navy this past weekend. As it was an online exclusive size (because Old Navy is the holy land and sells tall items online), it was marked down to an additional 50% off. So, I scooped it up for a whopping $7.50. I couldn't believe it! I paired it with a white denim jacket, which is an absolute must have in your wardrobe. I own both a regular denim as well as a white denim jacket, and I wear them non-stop during the spring, summer, and fall. They are perfect for throwing on when it cools off, or covering your shoulders for the office when you are rocking an adorable maxi dress that doesn't quite fit the dress code. To complete the look, I decided it just isn't quite warm enough for open toe shoes, so I opted for these adorable booties that I snagged on sale at none other than Target this winter. They have a nice low heel, fun fringe to spice things up, and are super comfortable (read: no breaking in necessary!)

I know I still have some growing to do, but I just LOVE pieces like this dress that I can wear both during pregnancy and after. It is super stretchy, long enough to cover everything that needs to be covered, and the t-shirt sleeves make this a great piece to wear to work, running errands, or even thrown on over a swimsuit once summer arrives! They come in a variety of colors, so go snag up a few right now!
