What's Hap-pinning, New House Style

Happy Wednesday everybody! It is always such a great feeling to know we are halfway through the work week, am I right? There is nothing better than knowing we are on the downhill to the weekend. Lately, my thoughts have been consumed with all things baby and all things new house. For anyone who looks at my Pinterest page, it is clearly all about the house lately. We have finalized our floor plans, and are now in the antsy stage of waiting to see if everything is going to work out as planned. I am mentally prepared for speed bumps, because that is how life works. But we are also at the exciting point where it is not unrealistic to start plotting paint colors, themes, and overall decor!
How dreamy is this shower!? We will most likely be having a walk-in shower separate from the tub in our master bathroom, and even though this is a bit fancy for my style (and budget), a girl can dream. The biggest issue would likely be that I may never emerge from the bathroom..
I am loving the colors of this kitchen. I am fairly certain we will not be doing any white in our kitchen. As much as I love the crisp, clean look, the thought of trying to keep it clean makes me shudder. While I don't mind traditional oak, I do like something a bit different, and I think this gray/brown color is a great alternative that also allows you to mix and match with just about anything!
I am pretty sad I won't have a new nursery to bring baby home to in May, but I am also super excited about planning one for the new house. I mean, we have control of everything down to the trim, and will have people doing all of the work for us, which is much easier than redoing Jackson's room over in our old house! I am planning to go with gray, navy, and accents of mint/aqua. My favorite theme is no theme, and I can't wait to see how my color vision comes to life!
I am really leaning towards wanting a farmhouse sink in our kitchen. I always HATE trying to do dishes in divided sinks, where there is barely room to fit in a pot or pan. Look at the size of that beautiful sink!? It makes me almost want to do the dishes!
More kitchen things (surprise, surprise). The kitchen has definitely been my biggest focus lately! My mom has sliding drawers in her pot and pan cabinet, and it is amazing how easy it is to keep it organized, and to pull things out without making a ton of noise! Major convenience factor, and as someone who often struggles to stay neat and organized, I think this will be so helpful!

I can't wait to see what everyone else is up to today! Linking up with HollyJenn, and Jessi!

Bumpdate: 21 Weeks

21 weeks already! This past week has been freezing cold, I hate wearing anything besides yoga pants, and I would just be really happy if I could go on a walk outside and enjoy some sunshine. Soon enough, soon enough.

How far along? 21 weeks, 4 days.
Gender: Boy
Total weight gain: about 8 pounds. I am feeling impressed that I am exactly where I was with Jackson, despite the holidays and living like a hermit the past few weeks.
Maternity clothes? some. I can still wear my normal jeans, but really don't want to. I have stopped wearing my dress pants for work, because they literally cut in right in the middle of the bump. Mostly rocking yoga pants and leggings as much as possible.
Stretch marks? none as of now.
Belly button in or out: in
Sleep: pretty good lately. It has been cold and nasty, so it makes it easy to curl up in bed and never want to leave!
Exercise: got in three runs last week! Feeling great, but need to use the bathroom immediately before and the second I get off of the treadmill. Babies do not do good things for your bladder!
Best moment this week: getting in a date night with my husband, complete with a movie AND dinner! Also, going to an early movie and dinner after is 100% the way to go. No rushing through your meal, and the theaters aren't packed!
Miss Anything? hmm not really to be honest.
Movement: yes! Kicks, usually around bedtime, and they are getting stronger every day. It is hard for others to catch, but they are definitely able to be felt from the outside now!
Food cravings: oh my gosh I could eat a box of provolone or white cheddar Cheez Its every single day. And coffee, but mostly because it is freezing outside, and I'm cold.
Symptoms: bladder pressure! Round ligament pain, but not too bad this week. Nothing too intense this week.
Anything making you queasy or sick: no, I have felt pretty good this week!
Labor Signs:nope
Wedding rings on or off? on and even a bit loose (again, I blame the MN weather)
Happy or Moody most of the time: just kind of blah this week. What can I say, it's January and I am wishing away this next month. Sorry not Sorry.
Looking forward to: I have to work a long day Thursday, so I will have a super short day Friday and will be out of the office before noon! I absolutely love having the chance to enjoy an easy Friday!

Weekending

Happy Monday everyone! This weekend really wasn't much of anything worth writing about, I am afraid. Low key was the name of our game. And really, that is just about the only option when you are in the double digits below zero for temperatures. Brrrrr.

On Friday I worked a shorter day, so I met my parents in town where they treated Jax to lunch. They also took him out sledding in the morning for the first time, and little man LOVED it. And threw a tantrum when they made him go inside. My child, people.
That evening, we watched cartoons, ate leftovers, and took super attractive selfies. Jackson is slowly catching on and upping his selfie game.

On Saturday, Mike and I did manage to sneak out for a date night, and we saw The Revenant. It was seriously a painful movie to watch, but also so, so good. Graphic, but not over the top. Beautifully done, but just emotionally draining. With that being said, I think it is about time someone finally gives Leo an Oscar. The guy deserves it! After the movie, we made our way over to Old Chicago for dinner. I ordered buffalo chicken roll-ups, and they are seriously sooo good. I could eat them every day!

On Sunday, I snuck away to the gym in the morning, ran a few errands, and was back home in time for lunch and to get my little buddy down for his nap.
The post run bumpbumpbump

During naptime, I was super productive and did a ton of laundry, and baked some Valentines inspired cookie bars. They are seriously the easiest thing to make ever, and so so good. Check out the recipe here!
I watched the Vikings game on and off, and was there to watch the most disappointing missed field goal ever. I am not really a football fanatic in general, but I do secretly root for the Vikes. Of course, I also have no hope or expectations of them (and have saved myself a lot of heartache that way) and not going to lie, I laughed a little when, the team known for breaking hearts, lost a playoff game in the final seconds by what should have been an easy peasy 27 yard field goal. People say they fell short, but I say the opposite; they lived up to their standards and let the entire state down in the most upsetting way possible ;-) Okay, enough of me being a brat (the only thing worse than a negative Vikings fan is a Packers fan). The rest of the day was super low key, we ate a grab as you come dinner of sloppy joes, and we were cuddled in bed watching the O.C. by 8pm.
Pre-bedtime snuggles and Wallykazam

Like I said, it was quite the weekend! I hate to wish time away, but every year January is the month in Minnesota that I swear we all just wake up every day so we can mark it off the calendar as being one day closer to the end of the month. The cold streak is supposed to end Wednesday, so only two more days of freezing! That's something to be excited about, right!?

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday everyone, we survived the first full week of the new year!
Is anyone else looking forward to a nice, low-key weekend with no events, parties, or Christmas decorations to be taken down? It is supposed to be frigid and cold here (we are talking a high of zero degrees people...), so even though it is only the first week of January, I am already dreaming of all things spring!
Brightening up this dreary month with pink on pink on pink. No shame in my game!
When the weather allows for little time outside, what better way to spend a winter weekend than snuggled up on the couch with a hot coffee and some online shopping!

The Toms Leila booties have me drooling. I saw them online, and cannot stop thinking about them. I am cheap, though, and keep trying to justify to myself spending $100 on a pair of shoes. Do any of you ladies have these or another style of the Leila booties? I would love to hear what others think!

For Christmas, I received the multi-color Kate Spade glitter studs. Those babies are now sold out everywhere, and with good reason. They are fabulous. My sister has been on the hunt ever since seeing mine and cannot track down a pair, but she stumbled across the Kate Spade glitter opal studs in the mall this past weekend, and they are just as gorgeous. I found them still available at Zappos with free shipping and returns! And, I am stalking Nordstrom's website to see if they restock, because I am kicking myself for not asking for more colors for Christmas. That is just how fabulous they are!

I have been on the hunt for a good chambray button up for awhile. Even during pregnancy, I think they look adorable left open over a t-shirt with black leggings! One of my biggest issues, though, is that at 6 feet tall, many button up shirts tend to run short on me, and when it is a layering piece, that is the last thing you want! Enter my best friend Old Navy, who carries a huge portion of their items online in tall. I stumbled upon this shirt there over the week, and using sales and promo codes scooped it up for $15! I cannot wait to get it and start styling it, and finally have a chambray shirt that is long enough!

Another tall girl problem is finding nice, long tank tops. I found these BP tank tops
at Nordstrom during their sale last week, and scooped them up for $7 a piece, and they are still listed at that price! Even at full price though, they are only $12, which is comparable to prices at Target for items of much lower quality, in my opinoin. These are long, hold their shape, and definitely high quality, without the high price. They are also a double scoop neck, making them perfect for layering!

Now that we are beyond the holidays, I am all about fresh, neutral nail polishes. Minnesota winters are so drab that a bright, light nail polish can be the perfect mood boster! This lucky lucky lavender polish by OPI fits the bill. OPI polishes are my favorite, they stay on for the long haul, dry relatively quickly, and are just a great product. Go grab this color, it will have you dreaming of lilac blooms and spring pastels!
Wishing everyone a happy Friday and a fabulous (and warm) weekend!

Bumpdate: 20 Weeks

I officially hit the halfway mark last Friday! This pregnancy continues to fly by and I for one couldn't be more thrilled! I feel like my bump grew overnight this week, which helps explain why baby is measuring a week ahead!

Top, Gap // Jeans (Gap Maternity, similar here)

How far along? 20 weeks, 5 days
Gender: Baby boy!
Total weight gain: 7 pounds. I was shocked by this Christmas miracle. I was convinced I was into the double digits after a slightlyvery indulgent Christmas, but I am exactly where I was at this point with Jackson. And 14 whole ounces of that is baby (another big boy, why am I not surprised?) so the blow slightly lessened ;-)
Maternity clothes? Majorly transitioning way earlier this pregnancy. When it is 5 degrees outside a maxi dress or flowy skirt just doesn't cut it! I haven't transitioned to anything with a full panel yet, and don't think the belly will be ready for that for probably another month or so, so we are still rocking lots of leggings and sweater dresses!
Stretch marks? No
Belly button in or out: In for now
Sleep: All I can say is, we reallyyyy need to get Jackson back into his own room for the whole night. We are turning into zombies. And he is now grabbing baby monitors at 5am and throwing them onto my face, sooo.
Exercise: Some runs over the weekend, why is it so much harder to get in a good run in the winter?! The gym and a coffee on the way home is the best mood booster!
Best moment this week: Telling everyone baby Stang is a boy!
Miss Anything? I wouldn't have minded a glass of champagne on New Year's Eve! Otherwise, totally in the 'content' stage of pregnancy.
Movement: Yes, lots! Mike even felt what we think was a kick this week, and I have an anterior placenta (which means you usually feel movement later), which tells me this kid is basically a ninja. Baby also kicked Jackson's hand while he slept on me last weekend. Sweet moments I hope I always remember!
Food cravings: Mexican, and lots and lots of fresh fruit! Strawberries and pineapple have been fabulous lately.Doritos with queso. And anything salty.
Symptoms: Round ligament pain basically round the clock. Headaches. And while morning sickness is long gone, it takes one wrong turn or quick stop and I am overwhelmingly carsick. That has not been fun!
Anything making you queasy or sick: Car rides!
Labor Signs: No. I did have my first totally noticeable Braxton Hicks contraction this past week though.
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Pretty happy this week! And while I love the holidays, I am almost relieved to come back down to reality and just settle into a more 'normal' routine after all of the craziness of this fall and the craziness of this spring and summer that is to come!
Looking forward to: An event free weekend and some relaxation!

Dealing with a scare

First things first, I need to be up front and say that I have been pretty blessed with my pregnancies. We 'tried' for both, and both happened on the second month of trying. And as humbly as I can say this, that one month of a negative test (which I know is totally normal as it typically takes 3-6 months) had me almost in tears both times. I never came close to experiencing fertility issues, but I also know that when you are ready for a baby, every month of waiting for that positive test is excruciating. So ladies who are suffering or struggling to conceive, I feel for you, I pray for you, and I hope every day you all get the angel baby you so deserve.

With all of that being said, aside from some sickness with Jackson through the first trimester and being repulsed by every food and smell on the planet, I breezed through my pregnancy. Appropriate weight gain, no high risk test results, and I was able to keep active and run up until the day before I delivered. Of course, I delivered almost 4 weeks early, but even then, he was born absolutely perfect. Little man was just ready for the world, and we welcomed him with open arms.
Now, nearly two years since we got that positive test with our first miracle, it has happened again. Positive test, announcing to excited parents, and once again trying to survive the work week while doing my best to not let me coworkers know I am hanging out over the toilet trying to keep my food in a good amount of the time. I don't mind. Every day of feeling rough has always been a friendly reminder to me that baby is kicking, growing and doing their thing. The sickness hit earlier and harder with baby #2, but we managed, because the end result is more than worth two straight months of feeling like you have the flu.
As I rolled through my eighth week of pregnancy, I stood up from a work meeting to feeling a 'gush'. Immediately running to the bathroom, there was a tiny bit of blood, something I didn't experience once in my first pregnancy. Nothing incredibly alarming, but enough to prompt me to call my nurse to hopefully get in for a check up if they could find the time. I left my meeting and drove to work (which happens to be across the street from my clinic), and walked into the clinic building so I could hit up the bistro for some breakfast. Walking in I felt more 'gushing', and made a dash for the first bathroom I could find. Blood. Lots of blood. Not spotting. Just blood. I calmly called my mom to tell her what I thought was happening, walked as quickly as I could up to my clinic, and when I got up to the desk I finally lost it as I said 'I don't have an appointment, but I am pretty sure I am having a miscarriage'. I just couldn't think of anything else to possibly explain that much bleeding. I also wanted to crawl in a hole watching all of the beautiful pregnant women around me coming in for their appointments. When all you want is for your baby to be healthy and alive, thinking anything else makes your world stand still.
The nurse got me checked in, and was kind but also did nothing to give me elevated hopes. We all live in the age of Google, and I know that 50% of pregnancies with bleeding result in miscarriage, and again, I had a lot. Slowly they walked me down to ultrasound, and as I laid on the table, I was mentally prepared to see a baby that was measuring small with no heartbeat. I was literally already coping. Until, the sonographer showed me a baby measuring 3 days ahead, moving its little body, with a strong heartbeat of 171. And that is when I lost it. You love the baby within you from the moment you find out that they exist, and to see them on that screen, growing and beautiful when you were positive they were gone..I don't know if I have ever been more grateful.
I spoke with the doctor, and really my bleeding could be due to any number of things. I was essentially told to take it easy until I was checked again at my 12 week appointment. Moving forward, I had no more bleeding, continued morning sickness, and at 12 weeks a baby with a heartrate of 177. That day already seems like a distant memory, but one that I will always keep with me that makes me appreciate the blessing of being able to carry healthy babies that much more. I know others have experienced far worse, and I cannot begin to imagine what a loss is like. I appreciate this pregnancy more than I thought possible, and am already so excited to meet this little one and hold them in my arms. I chalk this experience up to handing me a great deal of perspective, and a much more real knowledge that every life is a miracle, and I am so very blessed to have my little babe growing and thriving here with me today.

Weekending: The New Year!

Happy Monday everyone! As sad as I always am to see the holidays come to an end, I almost dare I say looked forward to the start of this new week. Perhaps it's because we don't have our own 'home' this year, or my husband and baby were sick, or perhaps just because we haven't had a 'normal' schedule going once since August. To go to work, not have school to think about, no morning sickness, and look forward to a normal, event free weekend really sounds like the best thing ever right now! For those of you who missed it, we did announce the gender of baby #2 on Friday! We are so excited and I have already been having to reel myself in from doing too much shopping! #babyjammiesgetmeeverytime

Last week we all had Friday off for the new year, so Mike and I went to my parents on New Year's Eve for a prime rib dinner! Jackson also did a lot of cutting his naps short and throwing off everyone's schedules over the holidays, so he was crashing as we ate and poor guy could barely keep his eyes open. We enjoyed our meals, and then packed up to head home shortly after. When we got home I put the little guy to bed, cuddled up into bed, and was out by 9pm. Wild. and. crazy. ;-) Mom life, for the win!

On New Year's Day, Mike, Jackson and I loaded up and went to Ihop for breakfast, just to get out of the house for a bit. Is it just me, or are their hashbrowns saltier and ten times more delicious than hashbrowns from everywhere else!? I could eat them all day, every day!We honestly spent the rest of the day just lounging around, doing laundry, and of course, a weekend must, ordering pizza for dinner!

On Saturday we ran some errands in town, hitting up Target and Old Navy, and swinging by my parents for a bit so that I could drop off baby and make a quick trip to the gym.
You know I am counting down to once again being the noticeably pregnant lady running on the treadmill that everyone scoffs at! Haha, not really, but there is just something to be said for what a gym session will do for your state of mind on cold, dreary winter days! We did also take advantage of the balmy 30 degree temps and bundled up for a walk.
Again, we concluded the day with lounging, and doing nothing.

Sunday, our little guy continued his terrible sleep schedule and had us all awake at 5:30am. He usually sleeps until 6:30 or 7, so to say it felt rough is an understatement. I had decided to make homemade cinnamon rolls, though, which are time consuming, so even with preparing the dough, letting it rise, making the rolls, letting them rise again, and finally baking, we were still eating by 8:30!
That, people, is how you know you were up too early. Waking up that early obviously meant our peanut was down for a nap by 9:30, and he fell asleep with his hand on my belly and the baby started kicking up a storm directly beneath his little palm.
It was such a sweet moment, now if only they continue to be so sweet and loving with one another as they grow up!
Jackson woke up with not so pleasant looking eyes and a runny nose, appearing to be exactly what his daddy had earlier in the week, so the rest of the day was spent cuddling a sad little man.
We did cap off the night with a Vikings win over the Packers though, so it's always fun to see them win the division!

And, because it is Monday, we started off the day with a little boy with red eyes glued shut from gunk, and a little nudist running away as I changed his diaper, who stopped in the doorway, smiled at me, and proceeded to pee all over the carpet before smirking and running away. Happy first week of the new year to all!
